Biography

America Alvarez has been an attorney at the Corona Law Firm, P.A. for more than nine (9) years and graduated from the University of Miami Law School in 1987. Although she has practiced in various departments at the law firm, her fields of concentration are bankruptcy and foreclosure. She represents individuals that have fallen into difficult financial times and are trying to have a new fresh start. She also works with homeowners who are trying to save their homes. 

In 1987, Ms. Alvarez began her legal career as an attorney-advisor with the United States Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges. She worked for an Administrative Law Judge assisting with cases and the drafting of opinions. During this time, she not only worked on labor cases but on Black Lung cases which dealt with coal miners, and it was a great honor to work on a project to assist individuals who had worked under very rough conditions for many years. 

From 1990 to 2010, she was employed by American division of an international publishing company. During these years, she concentrated on the drafting of contracts, licensing of works, copyright law in different countries, and litigation support for collection, contract breaches, and copyright. In addition, she was very involved with the everyday business operations of the corporations. 

Ms. Alvarez was afterward employed for a law firm whose focus was discrimination law in the fields of housing and disabilities. During these years, she was involved in cases against the school board, hospitals and other establishments for failure to accommodate persons with disabilities including deaf individuals and individuals with learning disabilities. In addition, she was also involved with the investigation of large housing organizations who discriminated against individuals based on race, religion, origin, gender, sexual preference, and marital status. 

At the end of this year, Ms. Alvarez will have been an attorney for 34 years. During these years, her focus has always been to help her client and give the best legal advice possible. However, law is a field that is always evolving from new laws or statutes to new technology changing it. Therefore, Ms. Alvarez is always learning and will always be learning in the field of law.
